New tracks from Baka Beyond and Dehli2Dublin

Posted in Uncategorized at 2:27 pm by celticmelt

First off, may I wish my listeners a good and prosperous, and musically sound New Year.

Thanks to one of my listeners, I was tipped off to a wonderfully odd Canadian group Dehli2Dublin. They fuse Celtic and Indian music together with a touch of electronica tossed in for good measure. It can be pretty strange, but very fun and interesting. And remember, CM has both Celtic and “Celtic Inspired” tracks, which is why you may hear tracks that don’t always inspire a spontaneous jig.

Secondly, more Baka Beyond tracks have been added from their 2005 CD, the Rhythm Tree. I don’t know why I hadn’t seen that one before, but  four tracks have been added as well.

Thirdly, the Christmas tracks should be removed by now. If you hear a Ho Ho Ho, or Silent Night coming from CM World Headquarters…oops.

 Cheers all!

Two others worth mentioning. Andy Irvine’s stellar supergroup Mozaik (with Donal Lunny, Bruce Molsky, Nikola Parov and Rens van der Zalm) came out with Live from the Power House in 2004 http://www.andyirvine.com/mozaik/powerhouse.html - my favourite and most played CD of all time. They have just followed it up with Changing Trains http://www.andyirvine.com/mozaik/ If you haven’t heard them, they are amazing.

Question: is it only me, or do the titles fail to update in the top bar of Itunes for other too? I haven’t updates itunes for a while, maybe that’s why, but it worked fine before. Now I need to open this page to know what’s playing.

Well the itunes update didn’t change anything. I still have to come on this page to know what is playing. Well, not a big problem, but it did work before.

Thanks Isabelle for the comments. I was on vacation for two weeks so wasn’t around to check them. So I’ll see about the Christmas podcast and switch that off. The podcasts are supposed to expire after 4 weeks, so that should have been gone by the time you heard it.

I don’t know what’s going on with iTunes. You’d be better off using Radio365, since it supports MP3Pro while iTunes does not, and gives you coverart, management of your favorites and so on.

I can’t wait to hear the new Baka Beyond tracks - they’ve become one of my new favorites. I really wish I could get ya’ll on my XM Radio MP3 player, but I guess I’ll just have to make do with my laptop and headphones during class breaks at school and during work. Huzzah for Celticmelt!
