Celticmelt on iTunes

Posted in Uncategorized at 4:07 pm by celticmelt

I don’t know how many former iTunes/CM listeners are here, but I hope some made the transition when we were delisted from Apple’s radio selection. Celticmelt had been listed since early on along with several dozen other Live365 stations. Unfortunately Live365 was forced to remove the non-commercial stations from iTunes for various sound business reasons. At it’s peak, CM was snaring about 300 simultaneous listeners, but is now down to about 60 max for an 80% decrease in listenership. Had I enough presence of mind, I would have whipped together a  quick promo to warn the iTuners of that fact, but alas, neglected to do so. So I hope that some of you were able to make the transition on your own.

Glad I found you again. When you disappeared I sort of looked but finally found you.

Yes, that was quite a shock when i opened my itunes and saw that CM had been removed. For a while i feared that you had shut down for good. I’m very glad i was able to find the station again. I greatly enjoy listening and hope that you are able to continue for a long while to come.

    Hi Mike.
I didn’t realise that the America radio section of Itunes had disappeared (I thought I had just copied and pasted it to some other section my mistake), until I once opened my older laptop to find that it was also gone from the itunes installed on it. I use Firefox, so when I click on the arrow on the live365 player, it doesn#t play IN the player, but I get it to open itunes and often I can reuse the streaming like in iTunes (not always though) so it’s nearly as good as before.
Does it make a difference when we click on the thumb up or thumb down for a song? Do you see those stats?

Yes to Isabelle. I do see the ratings stats. I may not check them often, but if something gets a lot of thumbs-down (thumb-downs?) I usually reconsider it, or lessen its rotation. One of my favoriate goofy tracks, Penguin Lust, wasn’t very popular (I wonder why? :-). I had it because it was just silly, and also because the group that did it was a sorta-Celtic band anyway and I liked their name. But I did knock it down from rotation.

Hi! I’m amazed that you only had 300 simultaneous listeners, you’ve truly a wonderful station! I hope that everyone eventually finds their way over through over mediums. I could not imagine trying to find another celtic station as nice as this!

When I click the play button, it still asks me if I want to open this station in iTunes — quick add to the playlist, and nothing’s changed. :D

When the CM option was removed from itunes I freaked. I thought the radio station closed. But I remembered the website name distantsuns.com or something like that and so I checked it out. When I realized I could listen to it on Live 365 I registered immediately. I love Celtic Melt. Some songs don’t fit the celtic mold like “let it linger:, please remove that song, but over all I love it. I really hope that they don’t cancel internet radio as I could not get a radio station like this anywere else. You guys are the best. By the way, I like the “penguin lust” song, it just gets plaid to often. Maybe twice a week would be good, not every day.

Yes, I found you, and am still playing you via iTunes.

    2 remaining wishes:
    • to see the face of the woman providing the CelticMelt ’sublime intro VO’!
    • to co-create a true Celtic-music nightclub in Los Angeles.

Anyone wanna assist? I’m easy to find. :-)
